A very fascinating photographic project was just drawn to my attention, The TRUE LOVE project is an interesting collaboration between a Photographer and a Hypnotist. The results are like no other photographic images you will find.
These are images of True Love, not some posed image, but the real deal. From the TRUE LOVE Project site:
People are exhorted to “say cheese” for the camera so there faces will approximate a happy look. Sometimes it works, sort of, since getting the muscles to do what happens in the act of smiling is not difficult. Other emotional states, such as love, are more complex, and not easily photographed. Love is intimate and deeply personal, and its expression may be hard to share in a staged setting, with a stranger, or in front of a camera. People feel and express love in so very many way it is impossible to imagine finding a gimmick such as “say cheese” that might facilitate an image of love which would be anything but a bad joke. Feelings of Love, however live within us all as emotional memories, whether from being held as a baby years ago, or caressed in bed just the other night.
Each volunteer was hypnotized to visualize the camera as a beloved person. The fascinating thing is that the images catch each person true expression of love as though the viewer of the image is that beloved person. It is hard to not make an emotional connection with the person in the picture.
As a practitioner of Experiential Trance states where people truly experience positive emotional states of mind, I am slapping myself on the forehead wondering why I never though of melding Photography with Hypnosis, both of which I enjoy greatly. Any volunteers?
I just found a very interesting video clip I wanted to share with you. This is an interview with Will Smith where he shares some very inspiring thoughts and ideas concerning the Law of Attraction.
In this interview Will shares his thoughts and beliefs regarding our unlimited potential.
“Just Decide”
We all have some idea of what we want in life, who we want to be and what we want to experience. Desiring it and having it can be two different things. We have to decide at our very core that it is what we really want and accept that it will come to us in some form when we least expect it and in way that will surprise us to no end.
As Will said “If you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready”.. Getting your whole mind into the mode that you know what you want and know it is coming, it will be there before you know it. Staying ready does mean some work, especially in the attitude department. Will also says “I will not be outworked, PERIOD"!”. This is a powerful testament to his level of persistence and determination.
The House
On this theme, Stacey and I spent an entire year looking for a house in Eastern Washington. We looked at so many house that we were getting sick of looking at them. We had a specific house in mind, in a specific type of area. We wanted a house in the mountains where it was quiet and peacefully, where we could have our greenhouse and animals.
We finally got rid of the limiting belief that the house had to be in Eastern Washington and we may need to move further away. 2 Days after we did that, our house came to us in the most unbelievable circumstances. The legal system even conspired to make it very expensive on us if we passed up the house.
Today we live in our house at 7000 feet in the mountains. At night we can see lights over 70 miles away and on a clear day we can see Dinosaur National Monument 55 miles away! My sanctuary is the back porch where it is absolutely quiet at night. Just up the road is some of the best fishing around and we can watch the Elk, Moose, Mountain Goats, deer and eagles while we fish. I am partners in Mountaintop Hypnotherapy with my brother in law.
We would never be where we are today if we had not known that we would find the house of our dreams, yet it actually found us and made us move here.
My CD “The Law of Attraction in Action” is was specifically developed to help people get rid of those subconscious limiting beliefs.
I have been teaching Mindfullness to my ADD/ADHD clients for some time now. I also presented my Mindfullness exercise at the ADD Resources Seminar last year. However Mindfullness training is the basis of most Hypnotherapy programs that we offer in our practice, whether it is Stress Reduction, Hypnosis for Childbirth, Weight Loss, Study Skills or any other.
A recent article on CNN “Mindfullness training busts stress” tell us that research is showing how effective Mindfullness training can be to all aspects of our life.
We are seeing more and more evidence that mindfulness can increase life enjoyment, improve the ability to cope with illness, and improve physical and emotional health. The February 2004 issue of Harvard Women’s Health Watch looked at how learning to focus the mind can help you manage the stresses of everyday living.
Mindfulness consists of paying attention to an experience from moment to moment — without drifting into thoughts of the past or concerns about the future, or getting caught up in "thoughts" or opinions about what’s going on. An easy way to practice mindfulness is through meditation, which involves sitting or lying down quietly for 20 or 30 minutes, once or twice a day. The Women’s Health Watch article included the following tips on how to achieve mindfulness in everyday life:
Pay attention to your breathing or your environment when you stop at red lights.
Before you go to sleep, and when you awaken, take some “mindful” breaths. Instead of allowing your mind to wander over the day’s concerns, direct your attention to your breathing.
Find a task that you do impatiently or unconsciously (standing in line or brushing your teeth, for example) and concentrate on the experience.
Make something that occurs several times during a day, such as answering the phone or buckling your seatbelt, a reminder to return to the present — that is, think about what you’re doing and observe yourself doing it.
A group of Wake Forest Psychology Student put together an introduction to Mindfullness video that is very informative.
We Provide Mindfullness training for all people in our offices and every client has found that the use of Hypnotherapy has improved their focus, reduced stress and generally improved their life. My next CD will be a Mindfullness CD, watch for it on Amazon.com. In the meantime my current CD “The Law of Attraction in Action” is very good in developing a Mindfullness mind set.

Babies typically turn between week 32 and 38 of pregnancy. Less than 5% do not turn and result in caesarean birth. Many researchers and Doctors now believe that Mothers stress and apprehension can contribute to this condition. Even the suggestion of caesarean birth can increase this stress even if the mother tries to put it out of her mind.
Hypnotherapy has proven very successful for turning breech babies and most often these babies remain turned into the proper position. It is very comfortable, relaxing and gentle approach for mother and baby. This is nothing like the Hypnosis that you see on TV or at the county fair. We do not make you bark like a dog or cluck like a chicken.
Lewis Mehl, MD, at University of Vermont used Hypnosis on 100 women whose babies were in the breech position between the 37th and 40th week of gestation. He found that 81% of the babies in the hypnosis group moved to the vertex position, compared to 48% of the group that did not receive Hypnosis. (Lewis E. Mehl, MD, PhD (1994) Archives of Family Medicine, Vol. 3, Oct. 1994)

There is a very good article on Oprah.com about ways to cope with money related stress. In the current economy most people have some stress around finances. This article provides tips for dealing with money stress.
What is the very first thing suggested? Why Hypnosis of course. People have known for years that Hypnotherapy assists in relieving stress and anxiety of any kind. Financial stress can have a huge impact on people, greater than other forms.
You can find plenty of advice from financial experts on how to cope. But what about the pervasive sense of panic, which can take a serious toll on health, putting you at higher risk for a host of ailments from high blood pressure to heart disease. Science has shown that exercise and meditation are two of the most effective ways to reduce stress—but you probably already know that, and likely feel too pressured to try either. So we asked a few experts for other strategies you might not have considered.
Get Hypnotized For years people have turned to hypnosis for help quitting smoking and losing weight, but the technique is also becoming popular among business types desperate to overcome financial stress, according to a November report in The Wall Street Journal. Generally, in hypnosis, a therapist uses verbal cues to put clients into a deeply relaxed state, where they become absorbed in their inner thoughts, then offers suggestions to shift an attitude so they can better tackle a problem. In this case, the suggestions might be "Money is energy that comes and goes" or "Your net worth doesn’t equal your personal worth," to deflect the paralysis and insecurity that financial panic can cause. Ideally, clients learn the process on their own.

The human brain receives messages from several sources, each dealing with separate types of information. Input dealing with everyday matters such as news, music, jobs, relationships, weather, etc., comes from the external environment. Our own bodies provide data concerning movement, digestion, tension, pain, etc., all in the form of messages, sent to the brain.
The conscious mind deals with reasoning and logic, decisions, goals planning and conscious activity. The unconscious mind, which includes both the subconscious and the superconscious, wields the greatest influence. It receives all the messages from our social, spiritual and genetic backgrounds and all the conflicts and disturbances which enter our consciousness each day. The unconscious mind receives and holds its information, neither accepting nor rejecting the messages. It does not evaluate. That procedure is reserved for the conscious mind.
From primitive times the human animal has possessed an escape mechanism that even today, under severely threatening conditions, can cause regression to primitive behavior. The fight/flight syndrome, always a means of dealing with fears, threats, attacks and other disturbances, has gained tolerance through evolution with the addition or reaction vs. action and repression vs. depression. Without these, when the message input volume reached overload conditions, the escape would be toward the denial of reality. However, the desire for social acceptance provides motivation to cope with and adapt to reality.
Nevertheless, when the conscious mind can no longer handle the message units overloading the brain, the subconscious prepares us for fight or flight–the heart pumps harder, blood pressure rises, super-strength can be generated. But sometimes there is nothing to fight. We can’t fight the environment. We can’t fight a job, an accident, a bad decision. What now?
Enter Stress/Anxiety
Unable to fight, the reaction turns to the alternative of flight, which in present day life can prove impossible. Often a state of apathy, depression and/or hypersuggestiblity ensues. Negative input finds acceptance. Futility and melancholy develop and an overreaction to the senses develops together with a loss of tolerance. The road turns downhill.
Imagine a group of musicians playing together. Imagine the trumpet player getting a measure or two ahead of the rest. Imagine the saxophone player, trying to figure out what the trumpeter is doing, dropping a measure behind. Imagine the drummer, becoming confused, missing his beats so that the whole group gets off beat. Imagine the conductor waving his arms desperately trying to orient the players. Imagine the cacophony as the musicians collapse, give up and quit playing.
A person experiencing continuing stress may well become subject to such a frenzy, in the process developing any or several forms of stress-related illness. While certain types of stress are even desirable (romantic stress, job promotions, winning a lottery), stresses that produce debilitation, depression, excessive smoking, overeating, anger, grief, and similar reactions need attention and usually professional help.
The first recognition of a therapist dealing with stress is likely to be that while the world, or the past if it is a factor in the condition, cannot be changed, it is possible to alter the client’s perception of and reaction to them.
Again, causal factors need to be investigated. And not infrequently regression can be helpful in this process. Stress may be a reaction to people, places, events, or things. The threats may be real or imagined. Remember, the subconscious mind does not analyze, and usually by the time depression appears the conscious mind had lost its ability to do so. However, there are several common basic causes of stress which can be recognized, defined and often eliminated.
What’s Behind It All
Why me? Stress victims ask the question quite often. Many factors enter into the picture of possibilities. Overachievers, typical Type A personalities, are hyper-competitive. They can be addicted to stress. They can enjoy it, until it gets out of control. Victims can learn stress early in life from parents, teachers, relatives and others. Through early experience they simply consider stress a normal part of life; they see it all the time.
Fears, valid or otherwise, can lead to the development of symptoms of stress. They can expand into full grown phobias and psychiatric disorders. Unrelenting pain or worries over health situations are factors, as are repressed emotions such as hurt, anger, grief, etc. Specific incidents are frequently involved, such as the necessity to speak to a group in the course of job performance when such activity is uncomfortable.
Medical conditions, including dietary deficiencies, can lead to stress, as can such female experiences as PMS. External factors, such as continuous or intermittent bothersome noise levels, can create or add to stress level.
Every individual is different in tolerance levels, coping abilities, reaction and therapeutic needs. Dealing with stress is best accomplished through a trained, experienced and sensitive professional who can determine causes and evaluate reactions. Sheer willpower is not the remedy in stress cases. Effective and permanent relief responds to desensitization, which can be brought about through hypnotherapy.
It is important to analyze the stress stimuli and the physical and/or emotional responses which they bring about. Through hypnosis positive new responses can be created to replace the devastating reactions of the past. Buried feelings can be brought to the surface and released. Outside pressures can be relieved. And finally, new responses to old disturbances can be induced with major changes in attitudes and reactions.

Queen Fabiola of Belgium, has had surgery with only hypnosis as her sedation. See the story at http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7013707016 for full details. The University Hospital of Liege where the queen had her surgery has performed over four thousand similar procedures. They often use hypnotic sedation with elderly patients due to the risks involved with chemical anesthesia. All went well and the queen underwent the hypnotic sedation without difficulty or incident.
At Mountaintop Hypnotherapy we often do Hypnotherapy for pain control and our clients find it quite effective. Our offices are in Roosevelt and Vernal Utah.
One of the most important rules to creating and maintaining a winning attitude is to constantly experiment with new behaviors, habits and thoughts. By doing this you will constantly be improving your life, outlook and inner self.
One of the dumbest things to do is keep doing the same thing that has not worked for you over and over and expect different results. We all fall into this trap from time to time without even realizing it.
One shining example of this is continuing to go out with a person that you argue with all the time. It is never going to change, yet people all over the country continue to expect different results doing the same old thing.
Let me get in your face just a bit here. The only person responsible for your happiness is YOU! You alone can change your attitude. Whining about life, relationships, your job or any number of other things is only going to make you more miserable. So get over it!
Most people continue repeating the losing patterns they are stuck in because it is easy, they do not need to think. Their inner mind knows the way to do that same old thing. Yet it takes very little effort to think up new ways to act, react and live. It can be a whole lot of fun, and in the long run requires much less effort and leads to a much happier you.
Make the resolution right now to discover new ways to change those old patterns into winning patterns and you will be on your way to intentionally creating the life and happiness you desire.
Lily Allen, signer and actress, recently used Hypnotherapy for Weight Loss to go from a size 12 to a size 8. The British Pop Star is delighted with her new look and said: "After the Hypnotism, I want to go to the gym every day, otherwise I feel really bad. I just want to get more toned and healthy. I’m really good about everything at the moment - I’ve never been happier."
The singer is not the first celebrity to turn to hypnotherapy to lose weight, Gerri Halliwell, Sophie Dahl and Sarah Furgesion (The Duchess of York) have all used hypnosis for weight loss.
Each person is quite different in their motivations and causes. Each session is tailored to fit with those motivations and what it is they desire. In Lily Allen’s case they hypnotist worked to create an awareness of when she had eaten enough to sustain her, desire organic food and make regular trips to the gym. In fact she now finds great satisfaction and happiness from her work-outs.
Interestingly, Sarah Furgesion turned to Hypnotherapy after being a spokesman and client for Weight Watchers. She has not commented on why after she was touting Weight Watchers she decided to have Hypnotist Paul McKenna work with her for Weight Loss. However Hypnotherapy is a great way to make sure you stick with any weight management program or plan you may us.
